The International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) announced on its official website that TÜMAD Mining Inc.’s application for the International Cyanide Management Code for the Production, Transport, and Use of Cyanide in Gold Production has been approved.

By signing the Cyanide Code, TÜMAD Mining, which operates gold and silver mines in Çanakkale Lapseki and Balıkesir İvrindi, became the first locally-owned Turkish mining company to commit to following the Code's Principles, implementing its Standards of Practice, and undergoing verification audits by independent third-party auditors within three years of its initial application and thereafter.

The International Cyanide Management Code, known as the constitution of cyanide management, is a voluntary industry program for companies engaged in the production of gold and silver using cyanide, and for companies that produce and transport that cyanide. It was developed by a multi-stakeholder Steering Committee under the auspices of the United Nations Environment Programme.

We congratulate and thank the employees of the Lapseki and İvrindi Gold Mine, who operate by applying the highest technology, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards available globally in their mining operations, for this significant achievement.
